Training Manuals

I went out this morning and bought 2 new training reference books. The first book I bought is by Bill Pearl. He is in my mind the first man of Body building. His book was the one that I have used in the past as my reference and I would have to say is the best book that I have ever read on the subject. The book is 600+ pages covering everything that you ever wanted to know about weight training. It also covers a very large number of exercises that you can do to target each and ever muscle in the body. Each of the these is well documented, with diagrams that cover the proper movements. It even has pre-calculated routines geared towards the results that you might want.

The second book that I bought is by the Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is by far the most recognizable figure in the world for the sport of body building. His book seems to have some excellent reviews, and looked to be well written from the previews that I looked at. I picked it up as a second reference that might have more modern points of view then the Bill Pearl book. You can never know too much about what you are doing.

We’ve been at this now for a month or so off and on. I gained almost 12 pounds from the onset of the program in about the first week , I have since lost about 10 of those pounds, and seem to be holding at about 210 pounds. Only being at it for a month, I am still just getting into the swing of things, and getting my body ready to handle some real work outs. These books are to help me better refine a proper training program to get the results that I want to get.

I am sure that their will be a few more posts about how we are doing, and maybe some more references to the programs that we work out to use. I will be keeping track of measurements with pictures to back them all up, but am not up to posting those yet.. Maybe next week. = ]
